Greater Cincinnati Green Business Council Formed

Seven corporations collaborate to share best practices on sustainability

Cincinnati, OH – June 2011 – Key environmental and sustainability leaders from seven Cincinnati area corporations have joined forces to establish the Greater Cincinnati Green Business Council (GCGBC). Initiated by the Cintas Corporation, the council is the area’s first collaboration of local business leaders dedicated to promoting sustainability while increasing the bottom line. The group includes representatives from P&G, Mitsubishi Electric Automotive America, Melink Corporation, Macy’s, Luxottica Group and Fifth Third Bank.

“Each member of the GCGBC brings unique experiences and innovative solutions that are already creating added value. The opportunity to share ideas that accelerate change within our organizations while collectively identifying projects that could benefit the Greater Cincinnati region is a win win,” said Pamela Coleman, Cintas’ Senior Director of Supplier Diversity & Sustainability.

The purpose of the group is to share best practices while collaborating how to best drive and accelerate sustainable development in the Greater Cincinnati region. The group meets regularly to tour facilities and hear presentations by members regarding the financial impact of their programs.

“We are excited to participate in the Greater Cincinnati Green Business Council and find great value in working with companies who share our commitment to environmental sustainability. This council represents an excellent opportunity for us to collaborate and make sustainability improvements in the communities where we live and work,” said Len Sauers, Vice President Global Sustainability, Procter and Gamble.

"At Macy's we believe that contributing to a more sustainable environment is a good business practice and the right thing to do for future generations,” said William Gates, Macys’ Director of Paper, Print Media Services & Sustainability. “One of our core values is giving back to the communities in which we operate so advancing sustainability in the Greater Cincinnati Area through the GCGBC is a natural extension of these values." he added.

The GCGBC’s vision is to drive Greater Cincinnati employers to be the sustainability leaders in America and is in the process of developing ways to educate the business community on reaching that goal. To maximize the impact, the council is looking to recruit a cross section of employers. For more information, please fill out our request more information form.
